Christakis | Liverpools Favourite Greek Restaurant!
On Friday, Liverpool's favourite Mediterranean restaurant @christakis_liverpool invited me to come in for a #Gifted meal along with my assistant @hartage.
We were welcomed by such lovely staff & the decor is so pretty- you really feel as if you've been transported to the Mediterranean as you step through the door 😍 .
For starters, I opted for the Keftedes- traditional Greek meatballs in a tomato salsa, as recommended by our waiter, George, who told us about a fond memory from his childhood of begging his mum to give him a keftedes when she was cooking them as he just couldn't wait to eat them. I seriously enjoyed mine- it was so tasty, morish & homely. @hartage decided to go for the Grilled Sardines in olive oil & lemon juice. @hartage said his starter was incredibly fresh, as if it was just caught out of the ocean & delightfully tasty.
For my main, I chose sheftalia- a pork, onion & herb sausage made with a caul fat casing, served with chips & rice. I don't usually go for the more obscure options but this one sounded enticing. I was so happy I went for this as the meat was bursting with flavourful herbs which complimented it so well, the rice was perfectly cooked & those chips were the best - crispy on the outside & fluffy on the inside. @hartage opted for a gourmet burger with chips & salad. @hartage commented the burger was seasoned to perfection- the way it should be and he really enjoyed the chips & salad too! .
After demolishing our plates, we moved on to dessert. I've never tried baklava before, so this was an absolute treat! Made with sweet filo pastry, layered with nuts & held together with honey or syrup this dessert is a must-try! .
we were also treated to some wonderful entertainment 👌🏻 I was really impressed, not only by the Mesmerising dancing itself but also the tricks she performed such as balancing candles & swords! 🗡🔥 Before our evening ended, we participated in a traditional dance too which got everyone involved! .
