BOXING SHOTS | FUSION LIVERPOOL
Recently I photographed a boxing show at Fusion in Liverpool. I found it quite a challenge to shoot in those conditions as it was extremely low lit and there was a lot of fast action going on.
To ensure I captured action shots of them boxing- punches etc- I first used a sigma 24-70mm Lens and had to keep my ISO at 6400, aperture as low as it could go- f/2.8 and shutter speed at 1/3200th of a second. Because I had such a high SS I was able to freeze any motion without it being blurred, but the downside to that was the original image was therefore a bit dark but i knew I could easily fix that in editing. I later switched to a canon 50mm 1.4 but kept my ISO the same and changed the aperture to either f/2.0 or f/1.8 and shutter speed to 1/4000 of a second.
I really liked taking some candid photos of the boxers waiting to fight, talking to their coach or taking a rest in between bouts.
I am very pleased with the shots I got and look forward to doing similar things.
